CHARLIE I’m in the middle of Death Valley Desert, Jaime! It’s not exactly a paradise vacation at beach resort!
JAIME You’re right about that. But paradise is coming for you. Isn’t that what you want?
CHARLIE Everyone has a time and place.
JAIME And today is yours.
CHARLIE It’s not.
JAIME How do you know? You got some kind of direct line? Come on, Charlie. This is a dream come true. Any Christian would be happy to know they’re going to heaven. I mean, you got it easy. All your sins will be forgiven. That’s what happens when you have a terrible death. And you didn’t have to set it up. A short cut.
Charlie tries to push the rope down his waist. He cannot.
JAIME I’m thinking, although I’m killing myself out here, I’m taking you with me, which, in theory, means you go to heaven, but since I caused you to go to heaven and helped you go to heaven, then maybe, I will go to heaven too. You think that will fly up there?
CHARLIE (Starts to hurt himself from the pushing of the rope) Damn it.
JAIME After we die, you are going to put the good word in for me, right? Charlie?
CHARLIE (Still pushing the rope, to the rope) Please.
JAIME That’s okay. I understand. I guess we’ll have to see.
