Context
Sarah and David have now been held hostage for days in an old, dingy hotel by the bellhop Joaquim. They came to Africa to have a nice vacation in the Motherland, hoping to find their roots. Instead, Sarah is seeing the roots of her straightened hair and she is not happy. Sarah is smoking (something she claims to loath) and she and David are reflecting on what they’ve been through and how they feel. David feels bad for Joaquim while Sarah feels guilty that she’s angry at him for ruining their

Start: Sarah: I’m in a crisis.
David: What now?
Sarah: Feel. Feel the roots. (David feels the roots of Sarah;s hair) Growth, My perm is going at the roots...this has not happened to me since I was a child at summer camp.
