Context
In this scene, sisters Lenny, Meg, and Babe are all back under one roof. Meg returned from California when she heard that her younger sister, Babe, shot her husband, and it is the first time Lenny and Babe have seen her in years. The girls are happy to see Meg, but do harbor some resentment that she has always followed her heart while Lenny has always followed her obligations. Tensions boil over during a game of cards when they discover that Meg has been eating all of Lenny’s birthday
