Always...Patsy Cline is based on the true story of the friendship between country music legend Patsy Cline and Houston housewife Louise Seger. The two women met one night in 1961 before one of Cline’s shows in Houston, and struck up a written correspondence that continued until Cline’s early death in an airplane crash. The musical was conceived of and created by Ted Swindley. Always...Patsy Cline first premiered in 1988 before debuted Off-Broadway in New York City in 1997.
