ACT ONE

[Editor’s note: This is a memory musical, told through Louise’s recollections. Occasionally, Louise steps into the memory and interacts with Patsy directly--such moments are written about in the present tense, to differentiate from Louise’s storytelling. Musical numbers are Patsy Cline performing in the past at various venues with her backup musicians, The Bodacious Bobcat Band.]

The musical opens with Patsy Cline performing at the Grand Ole Opry, backed by The Bodacious Bobcats Band (“Honky Tonk Merry Go Round”). Patsy welcomes the audience and celebrates being back where she belongs: on stage (“Back in Baby’s Arms,” “Anytime”).

Louise Seger, a Texas housewife, turns off her radio as she takes a seat at her kitchen table. She remembers the first time she ever heard Patsy Cline sing--not at the Grand Ole Opry, but on the television in the living room as Cline performed on the Arthur Godfrey show back in January 1957 (“Walkin’ After Midnight”).
