Plot

Act One

The year is 1979 and The Barracuda, a floating casino docked off the shore of New York City, is about to open its doors for business. Chad is home alone, bored and looking for female company. He rings his friend, Scott, and discovers that he is going to work as a caterer on board The Barracuda that evening. Much to Scott’s annoyance, Chad decides to join him. Meanwhile, Professor Ted Scheider is obsessed with collecting water samples from the pier dock. He is convinced that the new pier has been drilled directly into a dangerous fault line, which would cause a serious earthquake. He inveigles his way on board to find out more (“Hot Stuff”). As Tony Del Vecchio, the owner of the The Barracuda, watches group upon group of good-looking punters come on board, he is distracted by Marianne, an attractive reporter from the press. She has heard that Tony has run out of money and had to cut corners on the casino to stop his father shutting him down. Tony asks Marianne to join him on
