Synopsis
Disney's Aladdin JR brings the famous movie to life, on stage. In Agrabah, City of Enchantment, every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail! Aladdin, a kind but wily, street urchin, falls in love with beautiful Princess Jasmine, who he knows is waaaaay out of his league. It just so happens, however, that the Sultan has declared Princess Jasmine must choose a husband within the next day. After she turns down the offers from various wealthy suitors, Aladdin -- with the help of a fast-talking, magical Genie -- introduces himself as wealthy suitor Prince Ali of Ababwa. Meanwhile, evil royal advisor Jafar also has his sights set on the kingdom, and tries to convince the Sultan to force Jasmine to wed him. Will love conquer all? Perhaps - if love has a little help from a Genie.

Context
Many years after the success of the 1992 Disney animated classic of the same name, Aladdin made its way to the stage and opened at The New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway in 2014. MTI had already released a condensed stage version of Aladdin JR in years prior for children, based firmly on the 1992 film. After the resounding success of the Broadway production, MTI adjusted the script they had created to more closely follow the Broadway version which introduces

The show begins on the streets of Agrabah, where the Genie introduces us to our leading players; The ruffians Babkak, Omar, Kassim, and of course Aladdin, The beautiful princess Jasmine, her father the Sultan, along with his long standing royal vizier Jafar and his trusted lacky, Iago (“Overture / Arabian Nights”). As the song ends, Aladdin is caught stealing a loaf of bread from a local vendor. A chase erupts with guards chasing Aladdin and his friends in an attempt to retrieve the stolen
