Synopsis
Set in the midst of the Civil War years, a Lower Manhattan slum neighborhood becomes an unlikely center of racial harmony amongst the free Black Americans and the Irish immigrants, until the first Federal Draft in 1863 brings riots and unrest to the colorful neighborhood.
Seen through a mix of characters from a young Irish immigrant to a New York political boss, a poor songwriter to an interracial couple, to the Black owner herself of the saloon called "Paradise Square"Paradise where they all come together, this period in early America shines in a exuberant and thrilling new musical.
