Successful playwright Stephen Gaye is stuck – he can’t seem to finish the play he is working on, about a man in his sixties who falls for a much younger woman. When his frumpy, shy young secretary suddenly declares her love for him, he finds inspiration and completes the work. In the second act, the play has made it to Broadway, and the secretary has become the leading lady. Unfortunately, she now falls in love with the young and handsome leading man. Stephen is torn between fighting for her, and accepting her interest in a younger man.
