A Nobel Prize-winning scientist in Finland, Dr. Kaarlo Valkonen, and his wife, Miranda, do not want to believe rumors that Russia is planning to invade Finland. When they do invade, their son, Erik, joins the army, and in response, Dr. Valkonen joins the medical corps, hoping that this war will finally end all wars.
