Act Free finds three kids wrestling with the definition of freedom. After overhearing the "higher ups" talking, the children suddenly find out that they are free and have been for years, but no one told them. When they discuss what they'll do and their place in society, it becomes clear that freedom is a complex concept. "What good is it to be free if you don't have anything?" This play was written to spark conversation about race in America.
Editor's Note: This is a ten minute play. The roles can be played by either gender.
