Tigers Be Still opens with news that a tiger has escaped from a local zoo and could be anywhere within a 100-mile radius. This introductory premise sets the tone for Kim Rosenstock’s sardonic comedy about the tedium of modern life and relationships. The perpetually intoxicated Grace offers a comedic powerhouse role balanced by her sister, the more grounded but also messy Sherry. Both are dealing with crippling depression. But while Sherry is finally moving on and getting on her feet in a new career, Grace is content to spend her time on the couch languishing in resentment for her now-ex fiance. With a worldview that feels very absurdist-esque, Rosenstock has crafted a rich portrait of a millennial world and the hilariously relatable characters who inhabit it.
