Synopsis

Lesser known in the Rajiv Joseph canon, Mr. Wolf starts off with a pronouncement worthy of Brecht’s epic scale: “the world is coming”. What happens after is a theatrical exploration of the psyches of four people whose lives are threaded together by tragedy. Oddly, Mr. Wolf’s title character plays a background role in the play, appearing at the beginning and then functioning as sort of a specter hanging over the rest of the story. The play centers around 15-year-old Theresa and her reunion with father Michael and mother Hana after being kidnapped 14 years prior. Also in the mix is Julie, whose daughter was also kidnapped and who is now married to Michael. Now the four have to reconcile with unanswered questions, deep-seated resentments, and trying to find their footing in a world that’s hard to recognize.
