Synopsis

Environmental issues are too often presented as cold battles of scientific and economic facts. We decided to get personal and a little surreal. A couple (man and woman—but it doesn’t have to be) stand on a bare stage and discuss what will happen when the climate starts to change too much. Will they be able to find each? Will they be able to fight against the wind and rain? Will they remain in love? The New Silence uses humor, heightened language, memory, and edgy jazz to create an audio poem that takes on the thorny question of climate change. This is a great way to get people to talk personally about environmental issues.
