START: LENA: One night I climbed the hill up behind our house.
JOHNNY: Them’s the first words I ever said to her.
LENA: I think Momma was reading her Bible.
JOHNNY: She was my lady.
LENA: Late, but my little sister had her eyes glued open, watching the tube.

END: JOHNNY: Sweat was so sweet.
LENA: Shivering before I noticed Momma calling.
JOHNNY: Makes me thirsty just talking about it.
LENA: I guess she was scared I’d fallen into the river or something.
