Synopsis

Standing at the Sky’s Edge is a love letter to the northern English city of Sheffield and one of its oldest buildings: the Park Hill Estate. Here, we follow three timelines, all facing challenges of their own: from the 1960s to present day. The show weaves seamlessly from young couple Harry and Rose, to Liberian immigrants Joy, Grace, and George, to Poppy, a Londoner trying to escape a bad breakup; all residents of the same flat over six decades. With a fabulous score from Sheffield native Richard Hawley, and two 2023 Olivier Award wins, Standing at the Sky’s Edge is full of heart, humor, and love, asking the universal question: What is a home?
