Blood Wedding was written in 1932 and is considered part of Federico García Lorca’s “rural trilogy” alongside his other two plays Yerma and The House of Bernarda Alba. The play is based on a newspaper story about a family vendetta and a bride who ran away with the enemy’s. Blood Wedding has become one of the most famous plays in the Spanish theatrical canon and is now performed all over the world.
