START: DAVID: Where’d you get these?
ALAN: I bought them.
DAVID: (With half-concealed surprise.) For yourself?
ALAN: Right.

END: DAVID: Cut out the “understanding-the-kid” stuff. Do I have to break every damn thing in this office before you’ll fight back?
ALAN: You mean fight back against your parents, don’t you? I did--believe me, I did! Maybe they’ll reconsider after a while. If they do, I hope you’ll come back--
DAVID: (Half-choking as he fights the tears) Don’t hold your breath! (He turns and runs off.)
